Adult Adventures in Faith

We are never too old to learn and certainly not too old to learn
about ourselves.  Many adults are participating in several studies

at 1:00 PM. "On the Road to the Cross" by Rob Burkhart.  On the Road to the Cross
allows you to experience Easter through the eyes of the everyday people who witnessed
the triumphal entry, saw Jesus drag his cross to Calvary, and cried through
Christ’s last words. Each new perspective opens the door to a fresh consideration
of Easter and its impact on their lives and ours.
Study books are available in the Narthex.
LENTEN STUDIES BEGINNING IN MARCH We’re used to answers popping up on a screen
right in front of us. But when the questions examine the truths that give meaning and purpose
to life, finding the answers takes more than simply typing a few words and pushing a button.
Adam Hamilton believes that powerful answers to many of our complicated questions are
contained in the Apostles’ Creed, an early statement of foundational Christian beliefs. In Creed,
he explores not only what Christians believe, but also why they believe, and why it matters,
which in turn leads readers to confront and examine their own core beliefs and go beyond
reciting the Creed’s familiar words. Chapters include: God, Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit,
The Church at the Communion of Saints, The Forgiveness of Sins, The Resurrection of the Body.
This study will be held during Adult Sunday School beginning March 19 and on Wednesday e
venings at 6:30 PM beginning March 8.

MONDAY AFTERNOON WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY A new study, Prayer and Confession:
Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life, began on Monday, April 24 and will continue through May.
The study on the practice of prayer shows us how to live in God's presence. Prayer opens our
eyes to ways we can participate in the work of the Kingdom, and the devotionals in this book
teach us how to draw closer to God by listening, being persistent, and praying for others. In the
study on confession, we're prompted to open up and let go, breaking the cycle of brokenness with
a deeper understanding of God's unfailing love. Through confession, God works in us from the inside
to bring wholeness and life so that our lives can shine as we in turn share his grace.

A Grace-Full Life Bible Study will be held on Wednesday evenings  beginning May 17
at 6:30 PM. Grace is God's all-reaching, never-ending,  game-changing love for you and me.
In this series, Jorge Acevedo and  Wes Olds examine God's Word and discover how grace works
in our lives and in our world. A Grace-Full Life seeks to answer the questions: In what ways is
God an ever-present God?, Why does God want to  have a personal relationship with me? How
can I fully experience and  respond to God's grace?, How can I die well surrounded by God's grace?
Themes include:
Prevenient grace: God's wooing or drawing grace
    Justifying grace: God's saving grace
Sanctifying grace: God's grace that makes us more like Jesus
Glorifying grace: God's grace that welcomes us to eternity
